Gender INequality Indicator for Academia (GINIA)

The main aim of this work consists on a methodological proposal to represent and measure gender inequality in academia, focusing the University Padua. In order reach our goal, we ended up with two different complementary tools: system indicators composite indicator, that called Gender INequality Indicator for Academia (GINIA). Data used build compute GINIA Padua come both from administrative datasets an ad-hoc survey, whose data were adjusted by post-stratification weights. Starting existing indexes described literature, is articulated into seven domains: work, money, knowledge, time, power, health, space. These domains are better specified declined through twelve subdomains measured seventeen variables. indicator result three-step aggregation weighting procedure: 1) variables aggregated arithmetic mean equal weights; 2) 3) weighted geometric mean. Indeed, think related same domain can compensate each other, while consideration not plausible domains. Additionally, weights last step calculated preference matrix based responses respondents about importance they give domain. change substantially if methods or aggregation. Therefore, uncertainty sensitivity analysis was undertaken assess robustness as final computation bootstrap confidence intervals.
